The Eames Wire Chair was designed in 1951 and is comprised of a network of welded steel strands curved to create a highly technical and transparent appearance. The complex design does not only evoke a sense of lightness, but the constructed curves create a shape designed for comfort. Charles and Ray Eames designed this classic piece using the influence of basket weaves and bridge cables to echo the appearance of a three dimensional drawing. The base of the chair is also made from steel strands continuing the stylish and light design. The DKR-5 version of the chair includes a seat pad upholstered in Hopsak fabric or leather.
Another appealing element is the versatility of the Wire Chair, with use particularly in the kitchen, conservatory or sun room which radiate lightness, but also larger areas such as reception areas and cafeterias.
