Danish designer Verner Panton spent many years thinking about how to produce a plastic chair moulded in one piece. Together with Vitra, he came up with the first prototypes in the 1960s and the Panton Chair went into series production as of 1967. This iconic chair creates a stunning silhouette, due to its flowing curved material. The Panton Chair is available in several finishes, including brighter, striking colours, and more subdued, classic tones. This is the Panton Chair Standard in solid plastic, we also sell the Panton Chair Classic which is made of rigid expanded plastic and has a lacquered surface.
COPY WATCH: We only sell the genuine Panton Chair. The genuine design has a raised signature of Verner Panton where the chair meets the floor, plus a raised Vitra logo on the underneath of the seat. Most copies are a rip-off of the glossy finish quoting a reduction from the retail price of £717. We sell the genuine Panton Classic. Nobody else has worked out how to manufacture the chair out of one piece of plastic so there may well be a visible join!
