Vitra's partnership with the architect and designer Antonio Citterio began back in 1985. Citterio's designs are both reserved and impressive due to their functional quality, their precision and their elegance. His work with Vitra has resulted in office chairs and office systems, as well as an extendable dining table. The Suita Sofa now ushers in a new phase in the partnership because for the first time attention has been focused on a type of furniture that Citterio has helped to shape: the modern, timelessly elegant sofa range for the living space.

Suita captivates with its contemporary, light and industrial aesthetics. The aluminium legs and clearly defined carcass are reminiscent of classic mid-century furniture design as are the cushions and covers with patterns by Alexander Girard. Along with his friends, George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, Girard belongs to the leading figures of post-war American design.

The Suita Sofa represents the symbiosis of contemporary lifestyle with references to the golden age of industrial design that only Vitra and Antonio Citterio - an experienced master in this area could have developed.

The optimal configuration, which will be available for retail, truly highlights the possibilities that customers will be able to enjoy with Suita: it clearly shows that Suita is a large sofa range featuring elements that can be combined with one another; that several of the basic elements can be fitted with shelves and headrests; that there are surfaces that function as tables and that the Girard cushions give the sofa a very individual appearance.

As these individual elements can be mixed and matched, Suita is ideally suited to creating flexible arrangements that can be adapted to customer requirements and to fit the available space. Suita represents the collage principle not only in its ability to be integrated into existing furniture systems, but also allows various collages to be created using only pieces of furniture from the sofa range itself.

Sofas with fabric upholstery are available with soft or firm filling. Soft will be ordered as standard, unless otherwise notified. Leather upholstered sofas are only available with firm cushions. A tray and / or Head section available, pleae enquire.
